So Shall We?
If you were to take out the list you made in January, your New Year’s resolutions, plans, and even your promises to yourself, would you still be proud of how far you’ve come this year? How many of the boxes have you actually ticked?
Now, I’m not saying this to pressure or judge you. But we’re already in the second half of the year, and if we’re being honest, this is a good time to ask yourself: How far have I really gone with my plans to grow, learn, or be better this year?
If you are not proud of your answers, ask yourself why you keep procrastinating. What is holding you back? What is standing between you and the version of yourself you keep saying you want to become?
Another important question you also need to ask is:
“What have I let fear stop me from trying?”
Fear can be very sneaky. It might look like waiting for the right time or trying to make everything perfect. It might even show up as self-doubt, imposter syndrome, or burnout disguised as laziness. It convinces you that now is not a good time, that you’re not ready, or that someone else is already doing it better.
Again, I’m not trying to guilt-trip you into overworking yourself just to tick off every single thing before December, but you have to be honest with yourself.
You still have over four months left in this year, and that is more than enough time to start something new, take a risk, or follow through on one thing you have been too afraid to pursue.
So, take those baby steps, pick yourself up, and start something you’ll be proud of in a few months.
