Hi ladies! January took its sweet time eh? Thankfully, it’s gone, and we shall speak of it no more! Welcome to February! (cue the confetti!)
Unfortunately, it’s starting with some sad news:
The sad news 🙁
Tech Nation UK is closing its doors in March after the UK government pulled its funding. This is such sad news, many talented people immigrated and had access to better opportunities due to the work that Tech Nation did. Things are changing, and not necessarily for the better.
TikTok has confirmed that employees can decide what goes viral on the clock app. Pretty sure that’s something that should be left up to the algorithm so it feels a little murky; even more so when you remember the type of videos that have gone viral on the app. Yikes.
Still lay-off season apparently.
Google also tapped into laying off staff when they let go of 12,000 employees last month. Layoffs have not been unusual in the past few months, as most big tech companies experienced reduced profit margins. Apple seems to be the only big tech company surviving without any mass layoffs. The CEO, Tim Cook, took a 40% pay cut instead. Wild times.
Netlify recently announced that they have acquired open source fronted generator; Gatsby.
Girlies, here’s a quick hack to improving your negotiation skills:
Hard agree.
Something cool! (and maybe a little scary😂)
This robot can melt to escape a cage, and then reform into a solid form and complete tasks. This gives a whole new definition to the phrase self destruct. 😂
